The Sudbury Regional Breast Health Program is a program of Hôpital régional de Sudbury Regional Hospital. It offers a wide range of resources to women and men of all ages who may require diagnostic tests for a breast problem or who are interested in learning more about breast health.
Diagnostic imaging services available include: mammography/special views, breast ultrasound, stereotactic core biopsy, ultrasound guided core biopsy and needle localization. Mammography is accredited by the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR).
Once a person is referred for a surgical consultation, the surgeon and the primary nurse coordinate the care and treatment recommendations. Supportive care services are offered to address the informational, practical, emotional and physical needs of women and their families.
To have access to diagnostic tests and/or a surgical consultation, a referral is needed from the family physician or the physician who has done the initial assessment of the breast problem. Women and family members may self-refer for supportive care services, learning of breast awarnesss and access to the resource library.
